Banksy Artwork Suspected in Hastings
There was excitement and speculation down in Hastings recently as it was rumoured that a new piece of Banksy artwork had appeared on the back door of a shop. A Banksy spokesman however, denied that there was any truth to these allegations.
A number of people living in Hastings had recently contacted a national newspaper to say that they thought a small stencil painting of a rabbit had been done by the famous graffiti artist. Though the artwork which was painted onto the back door of a sports store on Pelham Street had all the ear markings of a genuine piece of Banksy artwork, a spokesman speaking on behalf of the artist confirmed that it had not been done by the artist himself.
Last summer Banksy painted a mural on a sea wall facing St Leonards Parish Church, which has since become a popular attraction in the area. The mural depicts a young girl wearing sunglasses building sand castles- which will be embossed onto the medals that will be awarded to everyone who completes the Hastings Half Marathon this year.
